Bluetooth bank Robbing: A case study

I helped to foil a bank robbery at the bank of Nova Scotia across the street from Holt Renfrew on bloor street one block west of Yonge street in toronto…

Soon after…

A temporary book store who takes unleased spaces, vacant spaces, for cheaper rent, at yonge street just north of the pizza pizza, one block north of Bloor, told me they were moving…A sign outside said “leased”…Funny how one of the bookstore business sellers looked very much like one of the bank robbers, like a brother…

Le Pain Quotidien, posted a sign outside their business, 2 blocks north of Bloor street, on Yonge, that they were declaring bankruptcy…(a very large bakery & restaurant)…

An Italian restaurant called Torroni, located further north up yonge street, north of summerhill on the west side, moved, & I have been told, are moving south down Yonge street, to the space on yonge street east side, just south of the Shell station, right beside the bar restaurant pub, in the location where the Montreal Bistro place just opened & went out of business…

At the same time, the Iranian hair salon on yonge street, two blocks north of Bloor, on the west side of Yonge went out of business…

The way I helped foil the robbery at the bank was this: A man was sitting on a chair at the front of the bank…He had a laptop computer open…

Let me explain…Bluetooth, this wonderful thing called Bluetooth, can be used to jump your PIN number as you enter it into a device…It is right at the moment that you are entering your numbers that a robber will attempt to Bluetooth your numbers…

The computer must be close enough to the device you are entering your numbers into to allow the information to jump…

of course, these robbers have a group of people, called accomplices…So, not only will they need a computer near to you, they need an accomplice, at a short distance away, with a bigger more powerful computer, who they can then jump the numbers to…

So, you will often see a guy with a big bag, knapsack or duffel bag, sitting near to a bank, outside, with possibly some computer hardware sticking out, because the computer needs to stick out a bit for the bluetooth to work…

There will also be other accomplices, usually women…One will sit across from the man on the laptop at the bank, watching…This lady was chatting loudly on her cellphone about a “poor guy who was in the hospital”…Totally fake conversation…

Another woman will be on the phone with the bank customer service person at the front desk- asking stupid questions over the phone, just to distract her…

Another woman will be in with a loan officer, tying him up with a loan request or loan questions…

Possibly some of the bank employees are insiders, having tipped off the robbers when to come in, & what to do…because of course bank employees are often in on it…

These actually were true facts…

How did I foil the robbery…I stared…I stared at the laptop computer screen of the man sitting trying to jump info via bluetooth…

Why did I stare? because one, it was weird that a guy is on his laptop at a bank, two there was nothing really on his screen, three I knew what he was up to, & finally four, he totally freaked when I stared at the screen of his laptop, put all his stuff together to go, which interestingly enough, included a huge box that declared there was a power drill inside???

Then he rushed out of the bank in a frantic hurry…

When I left the bank I noticed like 8 different people walking around like they had been waiting for the robber to do his job & they had been foiled & the job had failed & they were all coming out of hiding…Like that…Weird, smelly, unwashed, unclean, grotty, same clothing for days kind of stick out like a sore thumb people…

& then all these business in the neighbourhood started posting signs, saying they were moving, bankrupt, going out of business…etc…

Weird…Like they were all involved & they knew I knew…Just weird…

Maybe not involved, maybe…Still…I am trying to put all the strings together…

A temporary bookstore that only takes cash & doesn’t sign a lease, a french bakery, an iranian hair salon, an italian restaurant- what do they all have in common? & a bank…A bank that may have some corrupt insider employees…Well, I shouldn’t say may have…I KNOW there are some dubious employees there…

One employee named Andrew fidgeted in his pocket on his electronic device while my card & numbers were up on his computer screen…Yes, a bank teller…I asked him why he was on his bluetooth device at the moment my numbers were being punched in…He gave me a cockamamie story & I said nothing too confrontational…Then he shorted my deposit by $500.00 …Right in front of my face…Had I not checked, he would still have cleared 500 dollars, even after I had caught him in the act…When I reported him to a girl in charge at a desk, I realised she could have been his girlfriend…her reaction was not really surprise which tipped me off…

The short dark haired curly locked chubby teller may also have been in on the “robbery”, as when I interrupted her “phone” call, she didn’t seem to mind my interruption…Lack of surprise & strange courtesy don’t add up to me- at a bank…

I’m guessing the bank itself knows that employees may be tempted to the other side, so security on the employees is pretty tight…

I am still banking with them…Why?

Because I have to…I can’t just pick up & move things around, because then I would be dealing once again with strangers & you know what they say: “the devil you know is better than the devil you don’t know”…
